THE ESCALANDO GUIDE FOR MULTIPITCH GEAR

WE TRUST THIS GEAR BECAUSE WE USE IT

Every season we encounter similar situations on our courses and tours: people bringing inadequate gear, too much equipment, or even a modern phenomenon: too many unnecessary gadgets. With this guide, we want to provide context for what we use on our outings and what we believe is the best compromise between lightness, performance, and safety.

This is not a product list, but a philosophy proven on the rock. Every piece of our gear has been chosen not because it's trendy, but because it has proven its worth over hundreds of guiding days, in rain, wind, and extreme sun. It's the kit our team trusts with their lives.

THE BACKPACK

35L Backpack made of Dynema

Backpack 35-40 Lt waterproof, with hips straps, the dynema backpacks are proof to be more relayable on Alpine conditions for the ability to repeall a lot the water. usable for all the Seasons and Activities

THE HARNESS

HARNESS UIAA PROOF

In the picture, the white harness is half the size of the black one, which is important if you want to travel light. Is it the most comfortable? I don't know. It's definitely the most expensive.

Harness with a single adjustment point, lightweight, compact, and above all comfortable. It's worth trying them out in a specialist store, as many of the high-performance models are not as good as the brands claim.

THE BELAY DEVICE & CARABINERS

This setup has proven to be for me the most efficient in almost any situation.

We choose devices and Carabiners that work in almost any mode: rappelling, belaying a second, rescue. A guide can't carry a different gadget for every situation. Our choices are intuitive, resistant to water and dust, and allow us to maintain control in any scenario.

THE SLINGS

Slings 1.20m-1.80m + Dynema Cord 5 m

Reliable and robust made of polyamid and Dynema

I prefer thin slings because they are much easier to handle and allow for clean rappelling. For critical points where high friction can occur, I use rope-style slings—their sheath and core construction offers significantly better protection, especially against burns.

THE QUICKDRAWS RACK

Quickdraws & Friends

So you have everything clear and won't forget anything.

Quickdraws are 17 and 25 cm plus 60 cm alpine quickdraws to avoid rope drag. 12 to 18 pieces between the two types. You decide which ones you prefer.

THE ROPE & ULTRA STATIC CORD

SIngle Rope 9mm Cord 6mm

This combination of a 60m single rope with a 60m Cordino rope is ideal for long routes, mountaineering, and ice climbing.

HOW TO PACK ?

Simple but efficient 3 Layers

Only technical equipment, food and a few other items are missing. It's up to you.

With this simple method, we reduce the risk of losing something while we get ready, especially in very vertical places.

THE SUMMARY

Minimalist but safe

as much as necessary, as little as possible

This is my personal selection for long routes, everything i need to even improvise a maneuver safely and efficiently.

TOTAL WEIGHT

Less than 10 kg (9.5kg)

Everything you saw above is inside the backpack.
